    Bill,

Any news on the samples we took in the new passages? Are they different systems?

Have fun with Ginnie. Give her a hug from me.

Was that aimed at Bill or me?

    Oh, you meant the spring.

Andrew...did you not get the email i sent to the address i have for you? I sent you the data spreadsheet with a number of different plot comparisons between the two sides. There was no difference between the tunnels on any measure (conductivity, pH, etc.) except for dissolved O2...that difference was significant so there is something different between the sources. I presented this at the nss/cds hart cave clinic and gave you credit for the field work...had a shot of you on deco watching tv. Let me know if you don't find the email and i will send again, pm me your email again. Bill

No news on the samples... They are in line to be run at the lab (I have a tremendous back log of samples to run). I can say based on preliminary (so don't hold me to any of this) analysis of other samples pre- and post-TS Fay that the water from conduits from south of the river is chemically distinct from water from the North of the river. During the flood, a significant amount of river water is routed through the cave (which isn't surprising considering the drop in viz). The amount of river water is actually surprisingly low however, probably around 5-10 percent. The amount of river water is different in each part of the cave - more on the Big Room/Bone Room line and in Mainland. Big Room/Bone Room always has some amount of river water in it, Mainland transitions from river water to groundwater. Again, this probably isn't surprising to anyone who has dove Ginnie a lot, but the water sampling/analysis allows us to put numbers on the process - which is very important if you're trying to determine how likely a conduit system is likely to be contaminated, etc. Thanks again to Jeff Hancock, Jim Wyatt, Andrew, Bill Huth, Jim Lockwood and everyone else that helped sample during Fay.

Or maybe his announcement was a disguised advertisement to others that he's been to the hinkle in Devil's. All in an effort to boost bravado?? Kind of like someone's desire to spread gossip at church by disguising it as requesting prayer for someone else. HAHAHAHAHAAHAHA
