I dove Hart last weekend. The flow is up (think how Little River used to be-- pull and pull rather than pull and glide) from Little Hart to where the left hand turn is in the main line (going straight leads to Big Hart). Past this turn, the flow is manageable. The vis is exceptional. We made it from Little Hart to Black Lagoon; we didin't surface as there is a fairly large gator in residence there.
There was a great turn out, especially considering the temps were below freezing during the night. I don't know whether to admire or wonder about the brave souls that were camping.
During the day, things warmed up nicely, with bright, clear skies and just the right temps for hiking back to the Black Lagoon.
Tom and others had amassed a big pile of raffle items. The ladies prepared some great food! The presentations were, true to the Clinic's title, very educational. Don't let that fool you...the presentations were also very interesting! I learned quite a bit and enjoyed it!
I heard from several folks (me too!) who were making their first dive(s) in Hart this weekend. I didn't hear a single complaint from them! It is a beautiful system, and very deserving of our protection.
Hats off to the organizers, guides, volunteers, and speakers...and to the great park staff!
If you missed it, you really MISSED IT!

Shirley you're not serious? No, I'm not, but do stop calling me Shirley.
Thanks for the report, Shirley. I, too, was waiting to hear (plus how Wayne's wedding went).
Glad you had a great dive.
Poor friggin' Floridians. It went below freezing at night. La de dah. It got down to -6 Saturday morning in WV where I was. It didn't break freezing during the day.
Please, can I move to FL or AZ or somewhere warm?
Come on down, Barbi! We'd love to have ya! It's bright and sunny today, with a slight breeze, and the thermometer is sitting right around the low 70's...perfect weather to put the bike through its paces.
I believe Wayne and Janet's wedding must have gone well...they sure looked all googly-eyed and happy this weekend!
Amigo's had a great anniversary celebration going as well. Everytime I went by, it was packed with great folks and good food (except for that one time around daylight on Sunday morning when I dropped by for a quick fill...sorry Wayne and Janet!)

sorry i missed it. i woke up friday to drive down (having preregistered online weeks before) and our water pipes were frozen. well, I could shower in florida I figured and took off anyway.
About an hour and a half down the interstate a radio report said freezing all day and all night and all I could think of was my wife and kid home with no water, the pipes getting so hard-frozen they'd break, and I'd be 600 miles away. I turned around and came home and spent the next 18 hours thawing pipes - jeesh even the drains had frozen so after getting some water to run I had to heat the drain pipes!
the good news is that I found a strange hole in the foundation under the back step/porch that in some odd convoluted way was funneling a blast of cold wind (not even a breeze) right up under the house and I plugged that sucker! I think maybe I've put an end to freezing pipes that has plagued me for a decade.
no damage except for the missed weekend in florida! I'm still wondering if i made the right decision!
