I seriously doubt Brazil would extradite him back for a felony either. So all the work done to get this guy charged means nothing unless he decides to come back to the U.S.
I am sure this statement is bound to make some people mad but, I think it would have been better to release his name publicly and ban him from all CDS and NACD owned property as well as State Parks and any other private property caves. I hate cave damage as much as the next person, but it seems like a huge waste to spend all this time and effort when in the end nothing is going to happen to the guy. Even if he comes back for court, he will get a mild slap and nothing more. Just my opinion!!
The United States maintains diplomatic relations, but does not have extradition treaties with the following countries: Afghanistan, Algeria, Andorra, Angola, Armenia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil ,Brunei, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, the Central African Republic, Chad, the China (People's Republic of China), the Union of the Comoros, Congo, Democratic Republic of the, Cote d' Ivoire, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Indonesia, Jordan, Kosovo, Kuwait, Laos, Lebanon, Libya, Madagascar, the Maldives, Mali, the Marshall Islands, Mauritania, the Federated States of Micronesia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Mozambique, Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal, Niger, Oman, Qatar, the Russian Federation, Rwanda, Samoa, São Tomé & PrÃ#ncipe, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Vanuatu, Vietnam, Yemen, and Zimbabwe. *

But will the State Department issue a visa to someone who has been convicted of a crime in the US? If not, then that alone should be enough punishment.

Good job Ken, we thank you,
Janet
Even though he's admitted guilt, he still hasn't been convicted...yet, or has he?
So the question is, is there going to be a warrant issued for his arrest? If there is, then I would presume his passport would be taken and he would be placed under arrest the moment he tried to pass though customs coming into the U.S.

It's bad luck to be superstitious.
Good point, Mike. In that case, it would be better to not even convict. Just let an open warrant sit out there.

I've been following this with interest. It should be public record with Suwannee county. Look up the name. Personally I would post his name on every Internet site I could find. Finnaly perhaps CDS should impose the 100 dive prerequsite rule to dive Cow. That would help in keeping unskilled divers out of the system. Ken
