    Default Surveying: Gear suggestions

    Hey All,
My girlfriend and I are planning to take the survey workshop coming up in January and would like to start doing some basic survey in a smaller system we've been diving. So... any suggestions for additional equipment we'll need or gear configurations you'd suggest to make the process easier? Any suggestions for you well seasoned surveyors would be awesome!

You'll need a tape measure,I don't like anything longer than 100',and I have it rigged with bolt snaps. I like the Silva compass, easy to read, and inexpensive. I have a slate that I mount my compass, bubble level (good ones can be found at RV stores),and my data sheet on. For small cave I keep eveything seperate in a pouch.

Be sure you get a survey tape with waterproof markings. Some cheap ones will wash off underwater.

    Default great link!

great link and info... ironically my girlfriend caught me looking at it as I was making a christmas gift shopping list... I guess she beat me to the punch, she had found the exact same page and had already ordered almost everything we needed! Damn, what a woman!
