I just picked up a couple of spools to stick in my drysuit pocket as I wanted a backup to my safety reel and I wanted to have more than one reel to do jumps with.
I've never used a spool before and just wanted to double check on how they should be used before I bungle it up on a dive.
I'm assuming you unclip the d-ring from the spool and loop the line around the mainline like you would a normal jump reel. Then, connect to the other line and use the d-ring to connect the spool back onto itself. Does that sound about right?
What do you do with the d-ring when you are unspooling and spooling up line?

Very nice tip. Can't wait to try it.
