Default New Book about Cave Diving

    Hello

I have the great pleasure to announce the publication of my book, "The Cave Diving", The Best way to enter in the fifth dimension. ("La Plongée Souterraine," Comment entrer dans la cinquième dimension)
I'm sorry, but the book in only available in French...!

This book is published by Editions Eugen Ulmer (http://www.editions-ulmer.fr/html/paraitre.php?=SID), in the same series as books of Jacques Vettier, Nitrox / Trimix and "Recycleurs".
The book will be available in beginning ofJanuary.

The book is both a state of the most widespread practices in France and in Europe, but also sharing experiences and anecdotes of cave divers .... !
It is primarily intended to "junior" or "young" caves divers, but it will probably attract some "old" cave divers.

It is the first cavediving manual in French. This book is not a reference, but just finding out what is happening to time, by some divers.

You will find news on the book and on different dates to mark its launch on a blog specially created for the occasion:

At last, I'll be present on The French Dive Show of Paris at beginning of January...!

    Best regards

I've been posting back and forth with the OPer. There isn't an English version, at least not yet. He's gonna see about getting the book sold here in the US.

Meanwhile, ya just GOT to check this out:

The OPer is checking for me on shipping to the US. The poster is only 10 euros. If we work it out, does anyone want to go in with me on shipping? We can get several over here--Florida?--for pick up.

What would 10 euros + shipping come out to be?

    Hey Squirrel Girl.

That's a great pic. Can we get a caption and a photo credit?
Also, The first book I read on cave diving was "The Cave Divers" by Robert Burgess soon followed by "Caverns Measureless to Man" by Sheck. Both were very inspirational to me and since I'm a reader I'm always looking for the next book to stoke my imagination. Congrats on the new book but I don't read French.............but, I do kiss that way.

Let me know what the total cost would be. Might be interested.

Here's what Pierre posted on the NSS's Cavechat (which I think I can legitimately cross post, as an administrator there, and knowing we're all just part of one big family). Click on the link he gave at the bottom.

At time, I'm very buzy with the french publication.
I'll try to translate the book in english and in second hand to found an editor for USA and other countries. But it'ld be another story...!

I have not yet contact Amercian vendors, but I'll try in a couple of days.

For the pictures, yes, I've try to found really beautifull pictures of the caves and of the sumps...!
A good friend have made many pictures, you can take a look on his web site :
    http://www.photo-sub.com/

    He then wrote

yes, this picture is incredible. This is the big shaft of the Ressel spring in Lot (France)....!
Rick Stanton and Jason Malisson and later the team of Markus Schafeulte have push big dives in this spring.

But Sebastien, the autor of the picture and a good friend, use a very special technical. It's not a one shot picture.
He realise thousand pictures, alone and he moves in the cave with the light.
After, he works with "Photoshop" and with several pictures, he've made one picture.

But, it's a very good way to show the beauty of the caves.
You can found the complete description and history of his picture on his website at :

Forrest, I typed in 10 euros into an on line currency converter a day or two ago and it came out as $12.80. Not bad! But instead of having, say, 10 people in the US pay for the shipping, getting it to the US in one big batch, then we can distribute here. Either leave them at Cathy's or even mailing them domestically wouldn't be so bad. It's an option, I think.
