Ginnie exploration
So, has anyone seen the petition that is going around to block publication of an article detailing the ongoing exploration of the Devils system? How ironic is it that the person passing around the petition was involved with digging out the insulation room where they didn't find any passage!

That makes no sense at all, why block the publication of data?
Hell thats part of what its all about, the data, to block publication of data is to block the benefits of exploration.
are they communists?
Does anyone know the rational behind blocking the publication?

Why is exploration in Ginnie such a problem? Why would the land owners be upset if it was published?
Is it that the explorer that got the data isn't inside the secret handshake club or something?
If its a safety issue I still don't get it, the ball room poses far more danger than the publication of data in an area inaccessible to most people and even a good majority of the cave diving community.
If it was one of the "Old School" divers then it would posted all over the internet, in publications and anywhere else that it could be. Its not a big name that is in the cave doing these dives and they have their feelings hurt. What is wrong with a new face doing these kinds of dives. When did someone make the new exploration card?? Exploration has been happening since cave diving has been around, it is the name of the game. With out exploration then there would be no cave diving. If you want to be a line follower then be a line follower. If you have the skill, gear and desire then go for it and lay some new line.

Ginnie may or may not be pissed
Worst case, Ginnie refuses to let any cave divers access their land...sooo people get boats and use the boat ramp (On SR 47) to dive Devil's.

It is about Land Owner Relations. The Land Owner (Ginnie Springs) is not happy about the exploration. The persons involved have not gotten the blessing of the land owner. Don't even start the "They don't own the cave thing" they can in fact block your egress to the cave through their property. They can ban scooters, cave divers, solo divers, and the list goes on. It would be in the best interest of the cave diving community to ask that this article NOT be published in any magazine. The authors of this supposed article are not residents of the North Florida area nor do they even live on the Right Coast. They have virturally nothing to lose if the article is published and Ginnie Springs blocks diving from their property. We are talking about ONE person screwing it up for everyone that cave dives. If you think that I am blowing smoke, call Ginnie Springs and ask to speak to Rose Meadows and ask her opinion of the article. Rose is the Manager at Ginnie. Go ahead and give her a call.
