I hate to point this out, but swimmers/tubers are GSO's highest profit customers. They wouldn't even miss the income from divers. In the winter, it costs them almost as much in staff, as they bring in from divers. Nevermind the extra cost of insurance to include diving.

DON'T push GSO, they can shut diving out in an instant!

Are you sure? I am curious how so many people think they know what GSO's insurance rates are. You guys must be so much more so included in the insurance industry than any of the rest of us.

I digress...Forrest, I think you might only be referring to cave divers. There are quite a large number of OW divers there every weekend. Are you really that confident that Ginnie would "shut diving out in an instant" for all divers? OW and above?

They CAN NOT block diving. They can only block drive up access.

I guess they would have to change their tag line...

"Ginnie Springs Outdoors - Campground & Dive Resort in High Springs, FL"

    to

"Ginnie Springs Outdoors - Campground in High Springs, FL"

    That's exciting...

Is it worth the risk to push them, and find out?

Jerry is right about the river entrance, but they would be within their rights to fence the runs. A canoe is not what the state had in mind when they say "navigable waterway".

Sure it is...the only people that will truly suffer are the ones that started this **** storm...Are you telling me that this is the only place people can set there tanks up on picnic tables? I am sure the state parks would welcome more divers.

Is it worth the risk to test the state / corps about blocking a waterway?

The state closed the run to Little River while they were building the ramps, and walls.

And it is open again. I don't see your point...

Forrest, I am not trying to be a prick (although I know I am). I just hate the petty "GSO will close BS".

Any whining GSO does about liability and insurance rates is a result of their own shortsidedness. When they changed their incorporation after the drunk snorkeler incident I was sure they'd fix things. I was amazed when they didn't.

Their liability release needs to affirm that cave diving is a hazardous activity, and that anyone who does it should obey all the safety rules. It should further state that once you enter the water, you are no longer on their property and no longer their responsibility. Period.

I know, you're going to say that it won't matter to the scum-bucket lawyers (was that redundant?) looking for someone to sue. I say who cares. Let GSO show up at the trial and bring in several witnesses that will testify that the diver was 100% fine when they left Ginnie's property.

But as long as they act like they own the cave, they'll continue to have this "liability" in their lap.

Whoever said money can't buy love never bought a puppy.

This was temporary and based on health and safety. Closing solely to prevent access by a private entity is an entirely different aspect.
