    Default DUI Valve Removal

I have a DUI CLX450 with the low profile inflator and exhaust valves... I have a terrible leak coming in through my LP inflator valve and need to either rebuild, replace a seal or replace... how do you get these things apart? I have not tore apart this type of valve... can anybody help me out?

-Matt (currently diving a really expensive wet suit)

Not sure if yours is the same design, but mine you just pop off the inner cover and I believe there is a c-clip capturing the valve. Remove that and it just slides out.

You might want to make sure it's not coming around the valve where the base is attached to the suit.

    Chest inflater -

First, you can use a small open ended wrench and take the nipple off that you attach your LP hose to, there will be an o-ring you can inspect and replace if necessary. I doubt this is your problem but it is the easiest thing to get at, may as well take a look at it.

From there, the back of the inflater valve unscrews, it will probably be fairly tight but it will come off. Then like webmaster said, there will be a small clip holding the plunger or shaft in, remove the clip with the end of a flat blade screwdriver (or similar) and then the plunger will slide out...2 O-rings on this.

I had a problem with my inflater sticking open after 8 years of use and all I did was lube the O-rings with silicone grease and it worked fine after that.

Before you do this, make sure you have the sealant necessary to but the valve back on your suit. Steve Gamble uses a product from "GE" that works great. I forget the specific name/number but call Steve and he will tell you what it is. You can get it a Wally World, ACE, etc.

The dump valve - how old is it? There was somewhat of a silent recall on those back around 6-7 years ago. I took mine apart because it started leaking really REALLY bad, to the point I could not dive it. The design had a major flaw in it allowing part of the mushroom valve to hang up (open). They have since changed the design and "were" replacing for free.

Mine started leaking in December 2006, at age almost six years. I called them and they replaced it free.

    Default goo?

Does anybody know the name of the goo suggested by the drysuit experts? I have the valve off (much easier than I thought, I was just fearful of forcing it and breaking it)... disassembled and lubricated... now I need to reassemble.

    Wink DUI Valve Removal

DUI uses Dow 732. BTW, works great on P-valves as well.

    Guys,

Thanks for the info. Just picked up a used TLS350SE and think I had some leakage this past weekend. DUI, however, is sending me out 2 new valves thanks to the info I had from this thread.

Anybody had luck finding the Goo Russell linked to? I've found other varieties, but not the Gasket and Seal.
