Dead charger? H-10

I just pulled my DR H10 light out of storage. It has been in the pelican case for a couple of years. It worked the last time I used it. When I plug the charger in and hook it up to the battery, neither the red or green LED lights...Any ideas? I can hear a slight hum when I put the charger to my ear. I hooked up a VOM to the leads on the charger and I don't get anything near 12volt DC.

I was always taught to hook up the battery to the charger before plugging the charger into the outlet. Doing it the other way around can cause a big spike and kill the charger. I hope the charger is not gone. You might want to take your battery to your dealer and have it checked to determin if its the problem or the charger.

A lot of chargers don't put out the right voltage, until there is a battery connected.

Use your meter to check the battery. If it is over 2 volts low, it may never take a charge. It is best to recharge batteries every couple of months, if you aren't using them.

I would check the voltage of the battery first, then plug battery and charger together and see if the charger has changed the voltage reading (just dont plug the connector completely together, and you should be able to read off the "pins")
