Oh cool so we can throw our empty beer bottles into the eye then.
Cave trash is cave trash. Why not chisel the date into the cave wall to commemorate the event.

The whole thing sounds hypercritical, it’s ok to litter the cave as long as it is a cool light show. If this was a new idea and someone posted it here on CDF everyone involved would be jumping all over the poster.

Maybe I am over reacting but I don't think so. What happened to leave nothing but bubbles? I must have fallen asleep in class when they went over the exception for broken glass
2 thumps down to anyone who does not give to people breaking light sticks in any cave on any day.

    Lighten up, Francis.

There won't be any glass in the cave. We break the sticks and strain them into a ziploc bag.

In every place I've researched, diphenyl oxalate is said to be non-toxic when diluted.

The outside tube is plastic. But inside there's a little sealed glass vial. In order to activate the stick, you have to bend the tube far enough that it breaks the glass vial. That releases its contents which mix with the fluid outside the vial and the result is the glowing reaction. So if you cut open the plastic tube, there will be broken glass inside.

Thanks! Makes sense. The one time I did it, I made a small slit and let it trickle out.
