Default Peacock and cow pre and post flood.

I noticed that the caves look very different now. Here is a picture of Jean taken at the same place before and after the flood at Peacock. Some of my pictures of Cow are even more dramatic.

Yeah, I noticed that diving Peacock today, very dark water in some areas and yellow stuff all over the cave walls. Not to mention the junk all over the lines in less traveled areas. Your pictures really say it all.

Compared to previous floods where we had excellent water movement to flush out the tannic water, the aquifer is poorly charged, and the water movement isn't there to flush the system. Maybe quite awhile of poor visibility.

Were the camera settings the same?

Great comparison pictures, that is what black river water will do to your favorite dive sites.
Jean keeps wanting to go inside the cave and give it a good cleaning-the line clinging fuzz and the decaying leaves.

Won't that stuff on the walls eventually decay and get washed out?

Ok, I still think it'd be interesting to know if the camera settings were the same in the before and after pic's. I am not trying to pick on anyone or anything, just curious about camera settings (I do take pic's too).

A lot of things can make the same pic look different due to f stops, TTL settings, and flash fill etc...

That happens every time it floods - the tannic water stains the pristine cave walls for a while, until the spring water eventually washes it away again. I think it is a cool process, and neat to see the cave change so much!

I'd be surprised if the photos were taken with the same settings, I'll bet that if the camera is automatic the exposure was different because there is less light to be reflected. I believe that it really looks that different though.

When I dive a cave early after a flood it always feels like new cave - no pull & glide yet.
