    Default Reverse Sneak Dive

Well, I'm at work and going to slip out about an hour early so me and a buddy can dive Harvey's Sink, after having read the favorable report on conditions recently. Being that I'm supposed to stay at work till 5, does slipping out early constitute a reverse sneak dive?????? Just curious. I'll post a report on conditions when I get back. Headed to the Crystal Room if everything looks good.

Welp. Harvey's Sink was still in the same place I left it the last time I dove it (8/25/07). This was my first dive in 4 months. I've just not been into it lately. So, I decided to get back into the swing of things by hittin Harvey's. Sounds logical right? And dove sidemount.

Just as the last report said, the first 10 ft was maybe 2 ft. We tied our reel into the main line and descended to 70 ft (the bell) where we made our way into the cave. Vis was maybe 25 ft. We turned towards Turtle Passage and 20 minutes later, we were at the jump to the Crystal Room. Keith connected the jump and we entered. Vis improved. We made the circuit around the room and started back. This room is really awesome. There was a milky (smoke looking) layer around the 113 ft level.

Oh, did I mention that at the start of the dive, I noticed my left drysuit boot was leaking? Well, by this time, I was wet and cold. Luckily we had no deco. We made it back to the ascent line and I was beginning to have a little trouble keeping my legs up due to the water accumulating. Once we got out of the water, I noticed the water level had dropped. Apparently, I took more water out of the sink than I had left. Oh well.

Also, in the low vis section above 10 feet, something bumped my arm as I was following the reel's line back to the entry point. I bout jumped out the water and walked on it. Turns out it was only a tree branch. But I had no idea if could have been a snake or alligator. Man, that first 10 ft is NASTY!

A good dive. 53 minute run time. Max depth 117 ft. Water temp was 68F.
