If your dad doesnt want you to dive,thats one thing.But if you are already diving,taking a cavern course is the best thing you can do to make you a better,safer more confident diver.A cavern is not a cave and most can be dove by openwater divers anyway but in an emergency they are not trained to react.As a cavern diver you will be.
Good reply there. Just tell dad that you will lear so much in your skill level will imporve and your mindset as well. It not only can but will make you a much better OW diver and you will be way ahead of others.
Like I said, just bring dad down and we can dive on TBL and it will relax him. Hey listen to WJH, one of many that I have mentored and if you knew him and what he has turned out to be, would suprise you.

Been a few weeks since I have been in Beaver, but if you call Jim at C&J and talk to him, he can give you a better idea. It will depend on the rain that might come in the next few days.
If you could make it to TBL I can give better reports.

And yes, SLIM was one of my most influential mentors, both as an OW Diver and as a Cave Diver. He is definitely a proponent of diving within your abilities and training.
And, LOL, he was the one who sold me my split fins--and then forbid me to use them when cave diving. I'll be diving the splits this weekend in the lake!

The vis at the bluffs on Beaver was only around 10 feet on the surface a few weeks ago. Once you got below 12 feet depth it dropped down to around 6-8. With the rain we got this morning I don't expect it to clear up any time soon.

Sorry you could not make it down to dive with us this weekend at Table Rock. We had excellent conditions, with viz of 10-20 ft. and water temps of 60-79 F, depending on depth.
And I was reminded how good Table Rock can be for training and practice of cave diving skills, with all the trees to swim through for buoyancy practice, all the entanglement hazards presented by branches and trout lines, and some of the overhanging ledges that present a sort-of 3-sided cave to swim through.
