Thread: Ginnie Pass

I recently did PSAI full cave, and my instructor said we needed to dive three sites. So we did Manatee, Ginnie and Jackson Blue. But now you also have Little River open (provided there is enough vis at the start of the dive) and Madison Blue. I did some cavern training at Little River so I know it is okay for that. I am not sure about Madison Blue. Of course, Ginnie also has the ballroom, but one of the best places to do skills is in Catfish Hotel at Manatee.

You can only get the wrist and rearview mirror bands when they are open; however, if you have an annual pass, you just display it on your dash if it is afterhours. Regarding the friend - no, the pass is only for you.

Can you get a pass if you're not full cave? Just curious because... O/W, cavern, Intro, basic, apprentice all get charged a different rate than full.

How much is the pass these days?

No bashing, if I lived closer I would have one for sure! Just that there are too many caves between me and them to justify the drive [gas prices] X13 or so trips just to break even.

15 x daily full cave daily rate.

Mike, give me a break....... I have one and it will pay itself.

[Me]mentioned cave divers may be bothered by cavern students and their lines. We all had to do those drills and run lines and as long as the placements were done properly I dont think the cavers are really bothered by them.Even if they arent placed properly,it gives us a drill of sorts weaving our way thru the tangle.

I've had two...I think I broke even on the first one during the '04-'05 flood season. The second annual pass, I never came close to breaking even, and that's NOT counting gasoline.

I have way too many options much closer to home that are, not only very close, but are free or are state parks...I'll take the $40 [+tax] pass over a $350 pass.

Personally, the PSSP pass is great for me and my buddy. Since it goes for a year, and we always come down the same months, we always save money and more than break even. ex: Mar-Mar

What you can do is just start a tab. They will (or at least did for me a couple years ago) apply the dive fees on the tab to the purchase of an annual pass. Now I’m not suggesting you keep the tab running for months on end, but if you find yourself diving that system frequently, it may make sense. If and when you do convert your tab to an annual pass the counter staff will (or at least did) get some sort of commission on the sale. - Kirk

Wish I'd known that a couple of months ago! Great advice for others though, thanks.

Hmm if they can do a running tab, I'll start this weekend.
