    Default Sta

Okay....I need a STA. I am tired of switching my backplate back and forth between wing types, as I currently have a single tank wing that is meant to be used without a STA. This is a PITA, rethreading the cam bands & changing bolts from doubles, etc.

Okay....I've been looking around and what I find are stainless steel STAs. These booger up the paint job on my tanks. My buddy has one that is not stainless (abs maybe?), but I'll be danged if I can find one now.

Anybody know of a STA of another material currently available?

You could glue a strip of neoprene on the SS STA, to protect your paint.

SS is the most popular. I think Dive Rite used to make one from ABS. I like the neoprene suggestion though!

Maybe the Oxycheck Soft STA will help you.

I made my own out of a fiberglass U bracket, some stainless bolts and wings, and two scubapro cam straps. It was cheap and works fantastic, however, you'll have to carry some lead.

    Default halcyon?

Halcyon makes a single tank wing with STA integrated; it's soft and there is no metal to work through the neoprene over time. check with extreme exposure in high springs.

Made my own out of black abs from home depot. Cost less than 10 dollars, took an hour to get just right.

That's the wing and plate I have.....tired of switching the bolts and cambands back and forth from single tank config to doubles.

Maybe I'll just buy a second plate and be done with it.

Just get some PVC Pipe... cut it lenghtwise.

Drill some holes in it. Cut some slots to hold the bands.

    Instant STA They work great.
