Default A Special Thank You Regarding the 3rd CDF Social

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

Wow, what a great CDF Social we had!

The Moderator Dinner was a Success as we enjoyed some fantastic Italian food at the Pomodo's Cafe in Gainesville.

The Social at Ginnie Springs was one of the Very Best, with great diving, Delicious Food, lots of beverages and beer, Fantastic Door Prizes, a Nail Biting 2nd Annual Great Scooter Race, and most of all the "Friendship" and "Comradship" of socializing with our fellow Cave Divers and their Families!

I personally want to Thank the following folks and organizations that helped us to make this social one of the best yet and I would like to ask each and eveyone of you to support them throughout the coming years to come:

Mr. Bill Rennaker and Cave Excursions East & West. Bill has given so very much to us and the cave diving community. It was with his generous financial donation that paid for the majority of our social

Dayo Scuba and Tom Johnson (TJ). T.J. also gave a generous financial donation, T Shirts, Sweat Shirts, Children Door Prizes, awards, trophy, and a keg of beer. TJ's Mom, Uncle Gene, and brother Mark provided alot of help and assistance.

Ginnie Springs was kind enough to donate the Picnic Pavillion, an all day Bon Fire, Ice, Great Discounts for all that attended, and a Gear Sale for all of the attendee's.

The NSS-CDS and their tremendous contribution of T Shirts, Sweat Shirts, Coffee Mugs, Key Chains, License Plates, and Bumper Stickers. We Thank the NSS-CDS BOD for their generousity!

Captain Tom was generous to give us 2 day dive trips on Cooper River!

The NACD and their generous contributions of T Shirts, License Plates, Sweat Shirts, Bumper Stickers, License Plates, and stuffed "Bears."
Thank the NACD BOD for their generousity!

Exploration Design Studio for their contribution of Cave Diving Arrow Pens and a $50 Gift Certificate.

Spruce Creek Scuba for the contibutions of a "Dive Bag," T Shirts, and Slap Staps.

Eagles Nest Technical Divers. Thank you Larry Green for your contribution of door prizes!

Michael Angelo for his generous donation of 3 artworks and a set of his art postcards!

Peacock Springs and Janet with her donation of Sweat Shirts.

I want to thank all of the moderators and especially TJ for all of his help.
Jeff Bauer, Richard Blackburn, Steve Dalcher, Kathleen Seide, Jay Wells, Forrest Wilson, Chip Wuerz and Marbry Harden.

I also would like to give a BIG Thank You to Ron White and his wife Kim for all of their Fantastic Cooking! We need to recognize Stephanie Dalcher and Mike Koltz for their help and assistance. And a Big Thank You goes to our photographer "CHIP WUERZ", he's the "Man."

Soon We Will Be Posting the Pictures, and the "Award Winners," but I will let you know that we were to have a total of 3 gentlemen and 2 lady scooter racers for the 2nd Annual Great Scooter Race. But you know how rumors fly about, and when folks heard of the "Homemade Killer Scooter" by Ron White, why nobody showed up except Ron. So in order to have him qualify for his "Trophy" we timed his High Speed Scooter from Little Devil up to the Dive Ball at Devil's Ear, and back (And no we don't race in any Cave Folks). Hell there was at least a 2 foot wake, and Ron had to be careful not to turn his head or his face mask would of been ripped right off his face. His winning time, a meer 3 1/2 minutes.

But Most of All I Want To Thank You, the Cave Diver Community and Your Families for making us what we are today and I Wish Each and Everyone of You a "Happy and Safe New Year!" If you have any suggestions or comments, please email me at floridacavediver.com.

    Safe Diving,
    Bill Rotella

In the spirit of the social, and as I begin to plan for the next one.....

Are there any rules for the scooter in order to be entered in the race?

Other than that someone has to be able to ride it in the water, of course....

Thinking about how to make really sure I beat that posted time next year..... heh heh heh...

We all had a blast at the Social. It is always good to see all of you and burn some meat on the grill. I hope the cooking was to everyones liking.

As far as being the defending scooter champion, I fully intend to break my record next year. This should be easy as I took my time running the course. I also had to recover my mask once as the extreme velocity sucked it right off of my face when I looked to the side. That, and I had to run over the fallen trees in the run to pass some divers on the way back to the finish line. I could have done another run and gotten a better time but hey, what the heck. Get those scooters tuned up and come get some next year .

Thanks to all the people who made this shindig happen. Looking forward to next year.

I had a great time at the social. The scooter race started way too early in the morning. At 9am I really wouldn't want to be geared up and in the water. The scooter race should be at 11am or 12pm.

That's really it, everything else was great.
