Halogen or HID?

Halogen preferably. I just need something cheap/reliable to get me through my intro class. I've contacted a machine shop to do a custom LED that I'm very excited about, but the LED source is out of country, and I don't see it being done, testing, and working as I want it in a timely manner...it's just not the overnight project I wish it was. My options now are to rent one at $10/day for 3 days and pay $30, or to buy used and use it severl times, and then resell it once my LED is completed for what I have in it.

Id rent till I bought a good one.Wasting money on things only to realize you need or want something else is a bummer most of us out here have done.

IMO that's essentially what I'd be doing. Buy for $350 used, sell for $350 used, rental cost = shipping price + interest lost if I'd had the money in my savings account.
