    Default Morrison Spring

Got to sneak into morrison on sunday afternoon. I was cursing the lp108 on my back as we walked about a quarter mile to the water. Looks like they have slowed down on the construction work. They're going to have to pick it up if they're gonna finish by june. The water level was still a bit high but the vis was about 100 feet in the basin. Continued to the lower cavern and played around for awhile. The flow was ripping and the vis was gin clear as usual. There is a light layer of river muck on everything in the basin though. we made our way to the upper cavern to look around and then we went to the platform for a safety stop. We encountered what appeared to be a maniquin's leg in the shallows. It scared the crap out of me and Ed because It looked so real from far off. We left it there but covered it with some branches to make it look more real for the next unsuspecting victim. I think I lost about a pint of blood when I was changing in the woods. There were mosquitos out there big enough to kill and eat.

Thanks for the report, thats a hellova walk from the new gate... I think the next time I dive it, likely before the park is open, it will be from the dirt boat ramp that enters the spring run. A short swim is easier than a long walk, when it comes to toting dive gear.

    The leg is kinda eerie.

The leg really creeped us out at first because it looked so real. When I saw it I was already picturing the police there and a big scene from discovering a body. We were very relieved it was fake. We would have taken it out but it was really heavy.

A little clarification here: "sneak" usually refers to trespassing. You made a legal entry from the road, right?

As far as I know, we made legal entry.

Thanks for the report. I would hoped it would be finished by the 13th. I'd much rather do my check out dives there than in Vortex.

Was the gate open? If so, it seems legal to me.

From what I saw, I don't think It's going to be completed for quite some time.

Which boat ramp are you referring to? Is it possible to 'swim' from the boat ramp to the spring basin, or would a boat/canoe be better off? Has anyone dived Morrison by water lately?

Yeah, its just a couple hundred yards away. You'll need 4wd to get to it though.

We used to dive the cavern for a 1/3rd of an AL80 and use the remaining gas swimming the run to see more wildlife(traffic in the basin keeps everything interesting up the run). We'd often swim pretty far past the boat launch.
