    Default Manatee - 3/27/08

My buddy and I did 2 dives at Manatee today:

First dive was in/out at Friedman. The flow is up considerabley from 2 or 3 weeks ago. We went upstream approximately 900' and turned on 1/3s. The visibility ranged from good to excellent and seemed to be getting clearer ther further we went. This was my first trip into this part of the cave and I was very impressed with the extreme ups and downs and the huge size of the passage. Max. depth was 105' and at one point my computer showed 30'. The mosquitoes at the sink are plentiful and hungry and hoods and masks are nice after you surface!

The second dive we went in/out at Catfish Hotel. The viz. in this part of the cave was much worse, especially the first 300' or so. I would estimate 40-50'. All in all, 2 very nice dives.

    It's 10 feet less than 60?

It's bad luck to be superstitious.

    Hey Jean,

Nothing wrong with it, but just not nearly as good as upstream of Friedman.

Are there any good maps out there for the Manatee System?

Yeah, I think they can give it to you when you check into the park.
