Default PSSP will be closed to all diving 4-15-08 to 4-30-08

I am posting this at park managements request. There will be a work crew inside Peacock Springs State Park working on the road from April 15th until April 30th, the park will remain open however no diving of any kind will be permitted due to safety concerns.
We realize there is currently no diving due to the tannic water (it may not clear before the 15th) however we want to get advance word out there of the diving restriction at the park so you can plan your dive trips involving PSSP accordingly.
Thank You for your understanding and cooperation.

Has anyone asked the work crews if there is any possible way to get the work started earlier, since we can't dive now? That would REALLY be convenient.

My guess is that PSSP won't be divable before May 1 anyway. It has always taken 4-6 weeks to clear up, once the river starts back down.

If they knew we would have filled up with black water they could have planned accordingly but of course they did not and they have to finish the work they are presently doing since they cover a lot of parks.

I won't mind the closure as long as they repair the areas missing out of the road.
The bumps aren't bad, but coming out after a downpour and the tires almost going out of sight are always a concern. A car once stalled in the big hole and their trailer began to fill with water. There was water still running out a half mile down the road towards Luraville.

Janet, thanks for the heads up. We all appreciate what you do for the cave divers.

Are they going to pave it, or just widen the road?

Which is exactly why they are not letting us dive while they work on the road.

I think they are going to use some sort of tamping machine to pack down the road bed once they level it off? They are somewhat concerned about collapse.

It's bad luck to be superstitious.
