Troy Springs?

What's the status here? I see they've posted the state park isn't letting you dive, but is that up to date? I've never got to dive a flooded spring, I'd love to see the sunlight pierce through the river water, looks amazing in photos.

And finally, and most importantly is it safe?

With the current conditions in and around the area, I don't think Troy would be diveable. It may actually be awhile before you can get back in there....My guess would be right around the same time Little River is diveable again.....if not a little longer.

Troy is more likely blown,and it usually takes awhile to clear up

I was in Troy sometime last year when river intrusion was in play but the site wasn't closed. There definitely was no great view of sunlight streaming down through the tannic water. I think to get those sort of scenes everything has to be just perfect (amount of tannins in water, flow, sunlight strength, angle of sun). I'm not sure how one would quantify and measure those while trying to plan for great views. All I saw was dark, and some fish shadows!

It can happen at Troy but you're right -- probably hard to plan.

Troy closed shortly after Little River reversed. Talked to the ranger....won't open anytime soon...

Sure thing.
My favorite is a shot of the spring water mixing with the river water in the Suwannee...
Unfortunately I'm sure the whole place looks like a cesspool right now.

For tannic and freshwater mixing, Devils Ear usually has a good view when the Sante Fe gets tannic.

Troy is fun, I don't think they allow cave diving there(if you dive from the park), but there apparently is some tight tunnel there as you can see line going in.

I'm not sure cave diving ISN'T allowed (they do allow lights), but rather there's nothing to see possibly. There's a very cool cavern zone, with baby catfish you can see through and such. Off to the left (when entering from the steps) you'll find a 3-4ft round opening. I've peered back there to see how far it goes back, and it appears like it goes streight a good ways very tight. I don't have the training (or desire) to enter that system, but it might be possible. After reading books like caverns measureless to man, I really have to assume that if it was explorable, someone would have been crazy, dedicated, or a combination of those two to attempt it!
