We (Jim C., Ben M., and I) dove it last night. Scootered the gold line to about 3300 feet. Viz was a solid 60 feet or better everywhere. The MG jump just past 2500' is visible and looks reasonably clear, although we didn't go in. Flow is strong but easily manageable. The new layer of silt, especially in the further back areas is undisturbed and makes the cave look pristine in a way.

Did JB today. jmaddox and I did an apprentice-level dive, then I went to scooter to the Trash Room.
Vis in the first 800' was okay, 40-50'. But I turned my scooter dive at 1,600'. Vis was under five feet. There had been a team of four come through about half an hour earlier, and the Hall of the Mountain King was trashed. I'm guessing that before them, it was 30-40'.
Still not what we expect from JB.

I just returned from diving JB. Visibility was about 10 feet to just past the trash room. There is so much new silt that we were in zero vis, on the line, totting scooters, from the trash room back to the 3rd Tee. From 3rd Tee to 2nd we had 10ft at best, 5ft in spots. Vis was so bad coming back to the 4th Tee that I had to double back on the line back into the cave thinking we had some how missed the lower route path back to 3rd Tee. Flow was so strong in spots that the scooter made little to no progression on speed 9.
IMHO, I would not suggest diving beyond the King's Room right now unless you know JB very well.
I don't remember JB being so succeptable to local rain. Has something changed? A new sinkhole? New development in the area (like a dump)?
This a little wild because I did JB on Sunday and the vis was 30-50 for most all of the dive. We turned at p1150. The flow is up and I am really learning to try and read the cave as to where the flow may be down compared to another area and where will it be best to swim/pull&glide.

Please understand, that I experienced these conditions while scootering through typically clear sections that are somewhat low but now with the new silt it is easily disturbed. If you progress beyond these areas and return later in your dive they may be cleared enough to see. I happened to turn my dive and return through these low areas before they had time to clear.
