JB is clearing

I tried to dive Jackson Blue today, to no avail. All of the rain in the past 3 days has either drained muddy water into the system, or it is siphoning. In either event, the viz was about 1 foot in the basin and in the cavern. I went by braille to almost the where the gold line begins, but decided to call it and came out.

Hope this clears soon.

I'd call Edd's before heading out. It was pretty nasty and there really isn't anywhere for it all to go right now.

I did a dive to the 1st T today and it didn't clear up to that point. Visibility was about 3' in the basin and cavern. It opened up to about 8' after the dropdown and stayed that way all the way back to the 1st T. We're planning another dive in the morning with full tanks to see if we can find where it clears up. Our dive today kind of reminded us of the lakes we used to dive in Arizona.

BTW, there's no siphon going on. In fact, flow seemed to be up a little, especially back around 900'. It was really strange to be in JB with practically no visibility and flow up.

The bad visibility comes from way back in the system- when you dive it in -10ft viz, it can be brown all the way back to the breakdown before the banana room.

That should make you feel right at home Jason. Now if we could get the water to get a little colder for you it would be like diving in your normal conditions.

As Shawn said, there is nowhere for it to go right now. Once the Chipola drops some, they can open the dam and drain the Mill Pond down some. That should quicken the brown water departure, especially with the increased fllow.

A quick update. JB basin is clear this morning. There is at least 40 feet of viz. Mill Pond clear to Twin Caves.
