Old Lines in Little River - History?
There is a maze of old lines, with lots of "Ts" in the sidemount passages that begin across from the Mud Tunnel in Little River. The lines appear to be pretty old and I wondered if anyone knows the history of who/when they were installed and any other related info..
If they are "old" and in sidemount passage, then Wes Skiles, or Woody Jasper would be your best bet for information.
The one closest to the exit is the most recent - put in within the last 6-8 years - before then it was unlined. I think the guys who put that in also were saying they had replaced most/all of the old lines in that area in the same time peroid.

How Old is Old? I was going to say There was no lines there up to about 1994 when I started my cave diving break (sucks getting laid off, having kids etc.) I always would look over there wishing I knew how to sidemount. I got my Nomad now I just need practice. I looking forward to checking that area out.

I called the lines "old" because many of them aren't in very good condition. There are also some pieces of line that are obviously newer. There are lots of short jumps and 'Ts". It would be interesting to know how extensive this area of the cave is. I would say it is a good area to explore with your Nomad, just bring plenty of arrows and cookies.

I keep peeking at those lines too , but haven't gone in and actually explored them. Something on the list to do.

I think I'll look into them during the week when no one else is there. We blew out the front half of the cave the other day plowing through the silt opposite the mud tunnel. There is a maze of lines in there with lots of "T's" and loose line. Maby I'll reline it with some new stuff later this spring. Beware the "Silt Monster".....lol.....Ken
Hey Ken, I'm not hammering on you but the question should be asked with caves in general, not just LR.
Who decides, and what gives someone the right, to suddenly decide reline a cave or maybe just specific passages?
The state park system has line committees but what about other systems?
I have been on an awful lot of those SM lines in LR and there are survey tags on many of them...albiet they look pretty old. Same with a lot of the arrows, no name or initials on them but alpha numeric codes which tells me it's survey data. Maybe left from when Rich G. did his survey??? Which actualy is fairly recent, 6-8 years old?

It's bad luck to be superstitious.
If, relining were done, just new line to replace the old frayed line. Origional arrows and markers would be moved and placed on the new line in the exact position they were in on the old stuff. Just my thoughts, Ken.
