Smile Grateful for Skills and Dedication

I just got back from two days of diving at Peacock. My buddy and I did the Grand Traverse from Orange Grove to Peacock on Wednesday and the Waterhole Tunnell today. I have been thinking this every time I dive but tonight I want to say how much I appreciate the skill and dedication it must take to lay all the line that is in those caves. In some areas of Waterhole you don't have to touch anything to silt up the cave. Just by passing over the bottom the silt will swirl up. It is awe inspiring to think that people can go in areas like that and lay that line. My hat is off to you who ever you are and thanks so much for the work you do that allows me to enjoy the diving I love so much to do.

Getting out of Orange Grove after going back in to retrieve the reel was a real treat by the way.

If you have not already read Sheck's book "Cavern's Measureless to Man", and Taming of the Slough", you should take the time. It gives you an idea of the time and dedication it took, mistakes that were made, the progression that was made linking all of the springs together at Peacock, and some of the amazing dives that were made on more primitive gear than we have now.

I'd like to second that sentiment. Every time I come down from SC to dive the FL cave systems, I realize I'm there on a tourist visa granted by those who laid and maintain all those permanent lines. For example, the team(s) that installed the new lines at Madison did a great job!

    Thanks!
