Default New York Times calls for SCUBA Regulations

Today's (01/08/2008) New York Times has an article calling for the regulation and oversight of the SCUBA industry. They cite the death of an OW diver in the Keys and 90 SCUBA deaths a year as a cause for concern. You can bet this is the first step on the road to the destruction of cave and technical diving as we now know it. I'd start writing your Congressman today before some "do gooder' up there introduces legislation. The article is cited as 1994 but popped up in todays online paper. /Ken

The government is so good at regulations and management, this should make things much more efficient.

Especially after they figure out how and how much of a user tax to levy for each and every fill.

    I ment user "fee".

It's bad luck to be superstitious.

I doubt this article really posted today. Just an interweb misunderstanding.

Is it clear? No? Well....let's go anyways.

About once a week I do a search for SCUBA incidents and apparantly the New York Times has opened its archives since the first of the year.

If you Google -- "New York Times" cave diver -- The headline reads today bu the story is from 1988 incident at Orange Grove. The AP date is in a different font and lighter color. Next time it'll pay to look closer. I wouldn't think the New York Times would draw you in to reading a sensational headline as if it were current. Would they? /K
