Default New Years' Eve at Ginnie

After doing the midnight dive eight years in a row (five at Ginnie, three at Jackson Blue) I was really looking forward to doing this year's at Peacock.

    D'oh!

Bob's wife, who is cavern certified, did it last year with us at Ginnie, and told several friends about it. They may or may not come up Tuesday to do a Galaxy Dive with us. But alas, they're not cavern certified, so they can't dive at Peacock.

So it looks like we'll be doing it at Ginnie again this year. It may be only five of us, so anybody that wants to join us, come on!

I'll watch this thread in case her friends don't come up and we end up at Peacock. Gotta love the cellular internet!

I started to try to talk you out of going to Ginnie, but since there are 30 divers signed up for Peacock, it wouldn't hurt to spread out a little

The Galaxy Dive at Ginnie was small, but it was the best one ever as far as the "light show."

Bob, I decided that patenting this would be like Lincoln copyrighting the Gettysburg Address - it's better to share it with the world.

We took a half-gallon Ziploc bag, a strainer, and twelve glowsticks. We activated the sticks, cut off one end of each, and strained them into the bag. This removed all the little glass vials from the mixture, so all we had was a bag with about six ounces of "glow."

Everybody (Bill and Karen Oigarden, Bob Knazik, and Matt Rooke) stayed high in the cavern, and I went down to the grate with the bag. At 11:59 I wedged myself around a boulder and opened the bag. I held it so that it filled with water from the flow, then held the bottom and released the open end. A HUGE flow of light headed up toward my right. It got to the wall and turned left. Then, instead of heading out the cavern exit, it swirled back around. Within thirty seconds the entire cavern was engulfed in light, better than I have ever seen before, and this was my ninth time doing it.

I'm now counting the days until we do it again. I'm convinced that Ginnie Cavern is the PERFECT place to do this.

I was kidding I agree it's best to share it so less "stuff" ends up in the cave when it gets done.

How long would this "glow juice" last once strained and in the bag? Do you have minutes or an hour or so?

It's bad luck to be superstitious.

About 8 hours or so, just like a regular glowstick.
