    Default GoodEnough Springs - TX

    Hello everyone,

I know we normally focus exclusivley on FL caves here, but since I'm stuck in San Antonio, does anyone know anything about Goodenough springs in Lake Amistad? I know it starts at 140feet...that's about it. I may be going there in Feb with a group.

My understanding is the entrance is deep, side mount, and massively insane flow.

I have never dove it, just looked into it.

    Little bit of info here

WARNING: Goodenough Springs is one of the most dangerous underwater caves in the world. No amount of training and experience can prepare you for this cave. Only through careful incremental steps of introduction to the cave and its environment can dives be conducted safely. You and you alone are responsible for the result of any action you take with the information provided on the web site.
    Sounds like fun, let's go!!

How long are you going to be in TX? PM me, and I can give you access to the TX forum.

Contact Chuck Noe at ChuckNoe@CNsales.net. He has been in charge of the Goodenough project for the last couple years. He might even be able to give you an idea of conditions if/when you go.

    Default Update on Good enough

Hey everyone this may need to be moved to trip reports but I will let the moderators decide that

I finally had an opportunity to dive this cave that is located on Lake Amistad by Del Rio Texas. I couldn't find anyone with information (thus the post), but I found a website that gave me large amount (http://www.goodenoughsprings.org/index.htm). As is so often the case, you can read all day about something, but untill you talk to someone for information, or dive it yourself it just doesn't mean as much.

I can tell you 20-30' vis in the lake at 53 degrees, 100' plus vis in the cave with 80ish degree water. It was just a shake down dive to see what the site was like.

If you have any more information about this site please let me know.

80-ish degree water in the cave? Is this system a "hot" spring? I tried going to the URL you listed but the link didn't work.

Warm water was nice, but the temperature differential was not so fun (30 degrees).

The link works for me, so I don't know what is wrong.

    Thumbs up

Well, the link is working now. I don't know what was wrong earlier. It's a good site!
