NSS-CDS also has the Sheck Exley award for 1000 safe cave dives. I just received mine a few months ago. I had the Abe Davis for years.

Just out of curiosity, how do sites deal with guys who aren’t certified through NSS-CDS and thus don’t have an Abe Davis, despite being full cave and ccr/mix/dpv/whatever?

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you don't have to certified by the CDS to get the award, I believe that you just have to show a logbook. Also, in reference to an earlier post I've received awards from both the NACD and NSS-CDS and they never cost me anything...

I have to laugh, though. I constantly meet divers who boast about never logging a dive, so i hope none of these are folks that complain about Abe Davis requiring 100 logged dives.

I have some of mine in a book, but what I've also been doing is downloading the data from my Liquivision X1 and saving the log pages for each dive (which includes date, time, depth history, etc.), which I can the print hard copy. I trust that would be acceptable.

Plus, you don't HAVE to dive these sites - there are dozens of sites that don't need the qualification. Some pretty big ones, like Eagle's for example.

...There again, I'm only 11 dives away and keen to get there!!!

When I first read this post, I thought what a kidder. Ainslie has been diving forever. But now I see it is a post from 10 years+ ago.
    Kinda neat to see.

Wow!! A 2007 post gets dredge up in 2018. No comment on the subject matter. I had way more than 100 dives but wanted an Abe Davis sticker to avoid the bull at Ginnie when I went to the desk and some college kid wanted proof to scooter. Rose always had to step up and tell them the old bastard has been around forever.

Sadly Frank, Rose is no longer at Ginnie, and now they require a Cave DPV card for everyone that wants to scooter there.
