It is a spring/cave system on the banks of the Withlacoochee in the area of Morgan Spring. I believe that it was originally explored and surveyed by Guy Bryant. It has a small sidemount entrance that immediately opens into easy swimming tunnel. After about 150' penetration at 30' depth the cave becomes an elongatged vertical crack which drops to 120' deep....thus the name of the cave. At the bottom of the crack the main line goes through about 20' of sidemount bedding plane before opening into easy swimming tunnel again. This tunnel continues on with depths to the 150' range.

For what its worth, and to avoid speculation, the description above is mostly accurate. However this was not a sidemount dive, nor was sidemount required.

Again, I promise I will provide the diving community a full report when all information is available, please avoid speculation. In my wife's memory I would like to avoid misinformation as much as possible.

    Tim,
I am very sorry for your loss. My reply was in no way speculation about your dive. I have no information at all about the specifics of your dive at the Crack. I was just answering the question as asked. For me, 6' and 220lbs, the Crack is a sidemount dive in the places I described. Just as the Jug Hole bedding plane is sidemount for me although I have heard that divers have done this tunnel in backmount.
