cheryl/emerald and Chip's Hole videos

I'm beginning to move through the backlog of GUE and WKPP video archives as we develop some new exploration-specific DVD projects, and I'm finding lots of footage that just doesn't fit in any specific projects but is still interesting to see. For starters, while the WKPP was relining the Emerald system for the park, we took advantage of the vis to shoot a dive from Emerald to the black abyss so that the park management would have a better understanding of the cave system that they were opening to the public. I've posted a short clip to youtube that shows the return to Emerald on the swim back from Cheryl. The last shot gives you a good idea about the awesome size of the chamber under the Emerald sink.

We have a half hour DVD about the 2005 exploration of Chip's Hole that is at the duplication service now and should be available from gue.com within a few weeks. I've posted a trailer for the project at youtube as well; as far as I know, it's the only video of the Chip's Hole system that has been seen in public:

Thanks for posting. Can we anticipate public access to Chip's Hole in the future so others may see this system for themselves and shoot their own video? No fun watching video of places that me "John Q. Public" could never get into. (Like a monk watching porn)

I have no idea. Chip's is on private property, and last I heard the owners were not interested in the legal ramifications of opening the site to public access.

Being that it is significant to the watershed, maybe we could convince the State to purchase it as they did sinks north of Chip's Hole.

Great video. I was amazed at the size of the cavern at the end with that distant shot of the divers ascending toward the sink opening. That's definitely on my list of goals now.
