KP was SO close this weekend. . . .

Per decostop, KP wasn't able to make the connection this weekend between Turner and Wakulla. They added 400 ft of line to the end of Turner before it got tight and flow dropped. But on the Wakulla side from two weeks ago, it was said that the cave continued large and had current. So it makes me wonder if they might have missed the main tunnel continuing and got off on a side tunnel. Dunno. It was disappointing to hear the connection didn't happen. I was so positive it was going to happen, I was telling people to watch the news or read the papers Monday.

Sounds like returning to the wakulla side and walling out that large tunnel would be the next step. I'm willing to place my money that it would run into the main line at Turner somewhere short of that extra line they laid.

Just speculation. I really hope these guys do it. It's real exciting. My hat's off to them.

A side question. With the diving times they are doing, aren't they saturation diving? So, doesn't that mean that they can just increase bottom time on future dives, but their deco will not be any longer than it already is????????

The dive was 23 hours long. The problem isn't the deco; the team is facing very difficult logistical problems with moving enough equipment through the new R-Tunnel from the Wakulla side on the way to Turner-- single file, zero vis for a very long haul, 300' deep and 10K out. It would have been so much more manageable if the passage from Turner had been apparent.
