Any word on whether scootering will be allowed? I assume Solo diving is history and banker's hours will be instated

I was sad to hear this at first but after my last visit (on a Saturday) I decided that the only way to clean up the park and make it something other than a weekend spot for underaged punk thugs to get drunk, do drugs, pick fights, and act like a bunch of rutting Baboons is for this to become a State Park. I like a good party as much as the next guy but not at the annoyance, expense and safety of other people.
Same with Telford. If it becoming a State Park is the only thing that can protect the resource from damaging influences then I reluctantly accept the additional restrictions and rules.
Just build the Ranger station on stilts for gosh sakes.

Don't know about scootering since the unit management plan is being written. Scootering outside the cave diving community has gotten a bad rap,and it is felt that it is a cause of cave damage. Whether this is true or not,but we (the cave diving community) haven't done much to correct this image.

Currently when we access Telford we are trespassing,I don't know of any right to dive there that has been granted. In this situation the diving can end in a moments notice. At least as a state park there would be recreational access, and something would be done to correct the terrible erosion that is occuring around the spring.

    Default Input to management plan

Are cave divers getting the opportunity to provide input and comment on the management plan? If so, how?

Well, Manatee Springs State Park permits scootering, so that could be a model for allowing scootering at the future Little River State Park. Is there anyone we can contact with our concerns about the unit management plan?

As from a newbie perspective , I am looking forward to Little River State Park !
But of course , I don't scooter yet so...I am still of the swimming clan.

I look forward to it. Just my humble opinion of course.

    Thanks for the info btw...

I would hope that they follow Manatee's example, minus the floating "maximum diver" limit.

    If not...

The river is open 24/7 and has no rules.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but Suwanee county declared the run *not* to be a "navigable" water way, and I suspect the state will agree with them. I don't think swimming up the run would be a good idea.
