Thread: Cow Upstream

Thanks for the information. I was more interested in difficulties with sliding through due to potential issues with CLs pushing through the sand. Obviously not really a concern with OC doubles.
I also anticipated pushing bailout bottles thru as well.
    Thanks again.

Try not to slide your counterlungs (min. loop volume) in the sand. Maintain your distance from the rock above your scrubber canister. It's going to be a tight fit through the 2nd restriction!

You could try to mount your scrubber canister and tanks in a sidemount configuration. Leon might be able to help you with this.

it may be easier to avoid that sand restriction all together and use the "bypass" option.... It's been a long time since backmount for me... but I think i used to do that path in backmount pretty easily...

I've only done the 2nd Cow upstream restriction bypass in sidemount. I guess it's worth a try (Mike), but I always take the primary restriction in CCR and I haven't had a problem. I'm not sure how either path will work for someone else on a CCR. As Kelly and others have pointed out, it depends upon the whole package (body structure and dive gear).

You laugh, but I was in Cow, when someone tried to get in with an Argon bottle. They got stuck big time

I had to wait for a sidemount group to come in and go around to the back, and remove the bottle, so he could get out.

The RB80 has 2 big tanks, so it is way to wide to get past the restriction.

So far I can't even qualify for basic standards not to mention to think about it
But i write RB40 on my new housing made off sewer pipe would it be a violation? I can justify it as Russian Built [from schedule] 40 .
I'm truly sorry, for the offtopic. Just another of my useless posts.

I was 230 lbs when I dove in Cow and I got through with my Inspiration with out much of a problem. My PO2 controller and dive computer packed it in on that dive and was in a bit of a hurry too get out. Needless to say it was very stressful going back through the second restriction with a malfunctioning rebeather but that's another story.

I have been up stream on my meg, no problems, I have a low profile back plate, my buddy with his optima had more trouble getting in than I did.
