    Default New Here!

Hey everyone! If you couldn't tell by the title of the thread...I'm new here! I will hopefully be starting my training next month while I am in between jobs (hey why use the vacation days?). I'm currently a NE Wreck Diver (don't hold that against me please ) and have been certified for quite some time now and have dove in all sorts of environments.

I plan to do my training with John Orlowski, I'm not positive of the cave system but I imagine it will be in Peacock. Seeing how I'm new to this, I have no idea where to stay while I'm training! I'd prefer to campout (recently out of college aka broke) than stay in a hotel, unless of course there are some relatively cheap ones in the area. Since I can't find anyone who wants to do this with me, I'll be tackling this adventure solo!

I did my training with John. Really enjoyed it.
Did most of the dives at Peacock and Telford.

I believe Cave Excursions rents trailers for around $45
per night. If you want to camp, there is a campground
called "River Rendezvous" next to Convict Springs.
Not sure if that's spelled right.

    Edit: it is now!

Welcome and good luck with your training. This time of year is really nice in N Florida.
I stayed at one Rennakers trailers back in July and I would do so again.
I also stopped by Dive Outpost for the first time and Cathy gave me a tour. She has a Bunkhouse that she rents out for $20.00 per night. You get your own bed but but you may have to share the bunkhouse and the bathroom with whoever else is with you. It reminded me of a small Army barracks only nicer. I think it sleeps 12.
I'm not recommending anything in particular due to the absolute terror I have of violating the dreaded Rule #6 and the draconian penalties involved. I'm just telling you what I know.
    Have fun Buddy.

My gear is pretty much squared away. I'm planning on taking off 2 weeks when I switch jobs, I'm hoping to get down there next month.

River Rendezvous also has plywood hotels. They aren't the greatest places, but they have a bed, toilet, and hot showers. They are cheap too, I think it was 50 bucks a night. Well worth not lugging the extra gear.

The last time I was there they had a sign up
that said no diving allowed. This was back in July.
