Default Little River: Harper Tunnel past 1,266' (Rock and a Hard Place)

    Howdy,

What's past the no mount restriction? Pics or videos? The map says that the parts of the passage have been estimated and it looks like there is a line there. I am not planning diving that section any time soon and asking out of sheer curiosity.

    Cheers,

Agnes made the connection to the Florida Room many years ago. She did it no-mount and probably weighed only 120 pounds. Enjoy.

Michal Matejicek spent some time on setting up for that traverse a few years ago. He managed it by posting his bungeed AL72s ahead of himself then using his yoga skills to get through the restriction. He didn?t recommend the experience!

    Default Marius Frei

I wrote an article about Swiss diver Marius Frei connecting the Florida Room to the back of the Harper Tunnel for the NACD Journal for the 3rd quarter issue, 2009. Marius made the connection in February 2009, and as I recall, he said he had to contort his body around a piece of rock sticking out in near zero viz, and go around it tightly, which he couldn't do if he was any bigger at all. And he wasn't a big guy.
I'll see if I can attach the article here.

I met Marius over at Amigos around the time he was trying to make that connection. What was ironic about the meeting was that I had just come from a dive in Little River and had stopped to get an airfill and Wayne introduced my group to Marius. When I heard about what he was doing, I told him that Dan Lins and I had poked around in the back of the Harper Tunnel on several occasions, just for fun. We had no intentions of pushing the line although Dan, who was a very good sidemounter, did go into the muck for a very short distance. A "very short" distance! Marius was really convinced that a connection was possible, and with that we wished him the best, and as the saying goes; the rest is history!

Tracy and I were gearing up at Little River when Marius surfaced from that dive. He told us about making the connection and apologised for any silt we might see coming out of the Harper Tunnel.
