The idea is sound. Basically, Cave Atlas on steroids with some social elements. We already do that today by discussing cave routes, dive plans, etc. Give it a more formal approach, allow users to upload maps, 3-D renderings. What may be even more interesting is planning. Imagine dropping a pin on a 3D map and getting a dive plan to that pin. Potential litigation may be a concern - don't want folks to dive beyond their skill levels. Another concern is trying to be everyone for everyone and increasing the scope to the point where the site or the software is just a cesspool of useless, unverified info.
