Question stage question - Orange Grove

A couple of weeks ago I was at Orange Grove, and as we were exiting we saw that at the beginning of the main line another team had placed some stage bottles. It's not apparent to me why you would place stage bottles so close to the exit. Any ideas? I asked an experienced cave diver around the fill station and he shrugged and said, "people do all kinds of things." Maybe they were just practicing stuff? Some kind of traverse? (But Peacock is currently still closed.)

You can still swim to Peacock via Orange Grove past Challenge. Only the land road is closed.

There are really only a couple dives in Peacock that need a stage bottle, and one is the megatraverse. That is typically done from OG to P1, and back, but if done in reverse they may have staged tanks at the entrance.

could be that they burned the stage, dropped it close to entrance and went onwards to something else...

Could have been trimix used for a visit to lower Orange Grove that was then dropped prior to visiting other stuff in the system.

If doing the megatraverse from OG to P1 and back to OG, why would they drop stages just 100 feet or so from open water? I don't think the reverse--from P1 to OG and back to P1--is currently possible because the road from OG to P1 is still closed.

Maybe, if they did some kind of skills practice in the cavern that took a long time, and/or planned to practice something in the cavern when they returned? That sounds plausible.
