    I installed a 30 watt (4516 GE) sealed beam bub in one of these. The battery springs got so hot it meted the bottom out of the light.

    John,
    That sounds like something you would do...
    I lost more than one of these diving for sharks teeth in the Edisto River, but I never used anything but the dim yellow vintage bulb.
    It was a lot scarier that way.
