    Default Telford status

So at some point in the past the land around Telford was purchased by some group and it was hinted that divers would eventually be able to park near the spring to dive... what ever happened to that?

The land was bought by the water management district. I have heard a little but about their plans but nothings official.
Just know you can?t traverse the property still at this point.

It was purchased by the Alachua Conservation Trust

They intend to open it to multiple convervation and recreational uses...including cave diving.

Telford was one of my favorite caves. It would be nice to be on the property again but without all the trash.

I heard rumor (direct post acutally) of someone diving it recently who did not access it by boat or scooter. I wont name names... but how many other ways were possible? Made me think it might now be open or they accessed by un mentionable ways.

It wasn’t purchased by the Alachua Conservation Trust. It was purchased by the Suwannee River Water Management District, and is managed by the Alachua County Trust. A subtle distinction, but an important one. To the best of my knowledge, SRWMD doesn’t allow diving at any of their properties. Maybe the fact that Telford is being managed by a different entity means things will be different. Maybe not. Right now, you still need to scooter it.

Planning on renting one JUST to get to Telford, the cost then becomes the same as doing a dive at Ginnie (splitting the scooter rental between 3 divers)

I've swam it with no problem from the boat ramp.
