Telford is clear and pumping today. We were able to scooter up the river and right into the cave (where we left them). Dusty inside but great vis for me in front, maybe 20+ on the way out. I would guess that the water should be high enough to scooter into the cave through this weekend, maybe. The river is dropping.

Looking out at Terrapin Sink on the way out

I recommend going early. Beat the locals!

Little River was packed this morning. More cave divers than locals.

It wasn't crowded that much in the cave. I passed a bunch of folks going and coming. Everyone polite and in good spirits.

I was kidding. Not open for Memorial Day weekend to cavers nowadays, but some years back I dove ginnie first time ever on Memorial Day weekend, it was a terrible choice. Took about an hour and a half in line to get the ticket (end of the line was outside the main building), then I had to watch the stupid dive safety video, then driving around to find a parking spot. I eventually found a spot by turkey roost about 300 ft from the stairs. Which were packed with people with tubes, made carrying my stuff and gearing up almost impossible. And being asked the same questions over and over about how deep and how far and how dark and whether there are alligators or big fish inside with each trip down the stairs. All in one it took about 4 hours from arrival to getting under, all under a scorching sun and through grill smoke, at least the cave was more than worth it. But never again on a holiday

We?ve dove ginnie over every major holiday over the years. If you get there early and have an annual pass it?s manageable.

Last time I dove there on a holiday, I was staying in my camper at Ginnie. I had an annual pass (no waiting in line) and started my dive at 6 AM. I got out of the water a few hours later then sat at my campsite, drank beer, and took in the entertainment.
    Actually enjoyed my weekend.
    I?ve since retired and become a mid-weeker.
