    Also, it's important to remember that the original upstream entrance was not the one in use today. It was a much smaller obligatory sidemount entrance. Lamar was getting ready to dive when an OW diver exited and Lamar was extremely curious how the heck he got in. The diver showed him a new entrance that made it much easier. If I remember correctly, Lamar made him promise not to do that again until trained and offered him free lessons for sharing the new opening. I believe this was around 2005, 2006.
    Even with the larger entranced, it should still be considered an advanced cave dive if a very fragile system.
    IMHO

    My intention was not to bicker about semantics, it was simply to say that the entrance is in no way tight and people shouldn't be put off by an inaccurate description. Your argument seems to be that it was written in the 40s and that's my point it's not accurate. But if the goal is to keep people away so we can have it to ourselves then yes, stay out, it's a super advanced treacherous dive with the highest flow in florida and anything you touch crumbles to bits instantly and that's if you can even make your way through the extremely tight entrance.

    That story is accurate. That diver is an interesting fellow who owns an ow dive shop 5 minutes from my job

    His story is correct, but did leave out the part where the current entrance had a "shift", which made us more cognizant of the old entrance.

    It was prior to 1996. 1st time I dove Cow using that entrance was 96/97. Not that it makes any difference.

    Couple of short tight areas in the entrance - imagine swimming from one side of an hourglass to the other. I do not think you would have a problem.

    point is moot though. With the permit only allowing full cave certified divers I can't even look at it.... not that I think I could even see it until full cave anyway (not sure where the "restriction" is in regards to the downstream section).

    Why yes that was me in shorts and a t-shirt oops, a drysuit @ the 700' marker

    I know someone is waiting to say it so;
