I met Jeff just before Steve Berman died. I'll never forget him crying heartbroken at Ginnie the morning after the death. 'Still have one of his beautiful numbered maps. He was a nice man. RIP.

RIP Jeff, His map hangs on my wall in my garage
He was one of a kind, and a good man. I am glad I got to meet him.
Jeff was certainly a character. The first time I met him, he pulled out of Ginnie early one evening and left his drysuit hanging on the fence near Little Devil. I took it to the office. The next day when I was checking in at the office, Jeff arrived to pick up his drysuit. One of the staff told Jeff I was the guy who rescued his suit. Jeff commented that it was a good thing that he didn't see me with it between the spring and the office because he would have killed me thinking I was stealing it. I bought one of his Ginnie maps at the encouragement of Jim Wyatt. It was the best $100 bucks I ever spent.

Jeff will be missed tremendously by many. Jeff taught me how to scooter, how to manage my gas, many equipment configurations and philosophies, and a lot about the Devil's Cave System. He showed me countless cool places in Devil's, and always knew how to best plan and proceed with dive plans there. I did a few too many trust-me dives with him there, but I regret none of them. Jeff also showed me Hoot Owl cave in the backyard of Squalor Holler a few times during floods -- Nothing like swimming from water moccasins and watching Jeff wrangle them with his bare hands! Jeff loved animals and did his best to treat them well. He loved little Buckshot!
I met many good people through DVO. Lee, the OP, Lee, the GF, Strawberry, his son Justin, and many others. DVO was surrounded by people who respected and cared for him, and he genuinely was a good guy who cared for others, and it showed as they returned the favor. Jeff did not like me taking photos of him, but he let me, nonetheless. Attached are 2, and the upside-down one is spot on, as that's how we liked to be.
Condolences to his best friends Lee and his neighbor Kevin and his son Justin. May nitrox boy and trimix man live forever! We miss you DVO, thanks for the memories.
