    Default Farallon Fins

Saw these pop up for sale locally... I didn't know Farallon made anything besides DPVs. Any history you guys can share? Given the likely age of these fins, i'm impressed by the quality of spring strap on them... seems beyond their time?

I had a pair. They are great fins, if you have big feet, and strong legs.

Farallon Industries (later just Farallon) was an early 70's manufacturer named after the Farallon Islands off of San Francisco. My first dive light was a rechargeable Faralite. You could put a formed lead weight behind the reflector to make it neutral/negative or remove it so it would be positively buoyant. You should see the Farafin with the leg brace. They made gauges, masks, snorkels, fins, and of course dpv's. They also made the Shark Dart. An antishark device used by capsule (Apollo, Gemini) recovery divers. We used to show "The shark dart movie" to our new students. There also was a company called Oceanic Products around at that time as well. Oceanic Products consumed Farallon and Oceanic Products eventually became Oceanic
