I'm not for withholding any info. I just think that the value of that info is overrated in most cases.

And since no one can point out any learnings from the last accidents (which should be easy enough if there are any) and no none wants to answer any of the questions I asked, I sometimes feel like some people just wanna read those reports for entertainment purposes.

Ok, so I am not a CCR diver though I plan to. Someone postulated that the last incident may have been contributed by the act of shutting off the oxygen during a silt out. Is this a trained response? If so what is the rationale? I would like to learn from this...

Maybe because no one is obligated to answer pointless questions.

Again, if you think the value is overrated, then why are you trolling the IRAP forum picking arguments with people who don't feel the value is overrated?

I get along pretty well with bent eventhough we dont agree on some things. But a little hint to all: sometimes its better just to ignore his comments. You?ll like him better in the long run.

They weren't pointless questions. YOU said: '... we THINK a gag strap is safer...'. I asked why you're not using one than. That's a obious question in that context.

I have read enough reports were it's seems pretty likely to me that a HUD on an mCCR could have helped.I even mentioned a recent example. Yet people seem to ignore that. A lot of people I know ignore that... because they think the victoms just screwed up and they of course wouldn't. I don't see a lot of learning going on.

I don't know what people get told in mCCR classes. I reckon people switch of the O2 to lower the ppo2 instead of flushing the loop (with high ppo2 diluent).
Than you get distracted for whatever reason ...

It doesn't have to be on purpose either, the guy in France last year or the year before disconnected his o2 in a restriction and didn't notice.

I did a course on the Dolphin back in the day in Egypt. My genius instructor taught us to close the nitrox feed until ppo2 reached a certain point so that the gas would last longer (with the stock Dolphin you could only do basic rec dives before gas would run out). The Dolphin didn't have a HUD and it was breaking standards. I told my instructor than, that if I get distracted at the wrong moment I'll be dead. I know for a fact I can't rely on myself never getting distracted.

Usually I have no problem ignoring argumentative types on the internet, but I take exception to someone basically telling people who are trying to learn from accidents to shut up because, "I just think that the value of that info is overrated in most cases.

And since no one can point out any learnings from the last accidents".

The desire to learn something, anything from unfortunate accidents should be highly encouraged, NOT discouraged even if it is a waste of time. People "wasting" their time trying to learn how to dive safer is IMHO a better use of their time than arguing about CDS politics, for example.

I think the discussion here did indeed point out a "learning" point regarding O2 shutoffs, at least it did for me.

Wow, I never told anyone to shut up who tried to learn. That's a straight up lie. I also did never discouraged to learn, that's also a lie. I advised to consider what there is to learn instead of repeating slogans but I guess that's to much to asked.

Lol... he reads the CDS thread but is too lazy to read a 3 page accident report that's been up for more than a month. The irony.
