I am planning to go to Eagles' Nest Monday. Does anyone know conditions there now?

From the reports I have seen (Eagle's Nest Condition Reports). It looks like the basin is crap and the system (up and down) are 40+.

I looked at your site moments after I posted here. I see the conditions are not good for an initial trimix training dive & have decided not to go there on Monday.

I guess we will go to 40 Fathom Grotto.

Like the vis at that place is any better than the Nest?! 40 Fathoms is just a cold(sometimes), dark hole in the ground with a bunch of trash at the bottom! The conditions at the Nest, even in the recent conditions, are good enough to train an experienced cave diver for trimix, IMO. Of course, I don't know the vis requirements, if any, for the courses.. What are they?

Sorry I missed your directed WTF Mike...However, I did get your PM. I responded to that this morning but also wanted to post this here as you asked for the response publicly as well.

I would ask you to take a look at the CDF Privacy & Security Statement. I think you will find it quite clear that the posts on CDF are public domain (except for the fill station -- username and password are required for that). Additionally, there are no rules (that I can find) that explicitly forbid the use of information found on this site for other sites. If we go back to the "Privacy & Security Statement" page I think your WTF can be most easily answered with what is stated there -- "Since this is an open forum, any information you place on the board is open for public view.". So your WTF should be answered quite clearly Mike.

All that being said, I sent you a PM here on on CDF (Wed Jul 19, 2006 6:46 pm) requesting to use your information. It is curious to me that everyone else I ask (always before I copy their information) is seemingly more than happy to supply the information and you are not. As you can see by other posts in this thread, others use the condition reports on my site to help them. Is it that you just do not want to share that information with others? Do you think my site is bad in some way shape or form? Or is this simply the proverbial mountain being created from a mole hill?

I am very curious to hear your point of view.

Now that I have said my peace I would like to discuss this a little more.

I am trying to put together a site to benefit the entire cave community by providing condition reports so that people like Jim aren't driving from Ft. White to Eagle's Nest only to find it a blow out. I understand there is some manner of conditions provided by CDF but they lack a historical perspective.

Mike, I sent you a PM and you didn't respond; my assumption (obviously incorrect) was that you would be willing to share that information with the rest of the cave diving community already using the condition repors on my site. I get no personal gain from having the site and I use it as a way of giving back. If you would like me to remove your post, please let me know.

My point of view is quite simple. Cut and past if you like...it's not against the rules here...but don't put my name to it. This is not a matter of "not wanting to share", but if I wanted it on your site with my name attached I would have put it there myself.

Yes, you PM'd me. I didn't respond to the PM. Non-response does not imply consent. I know the concept of not replying to private messages/email is quite familiar to you, though I'm not sure if you just ignore a few people or many.

Bottom line..I don't want my name attached to anything I don't post myself. We're done here.
