Question How many bags do you take?

I am going away for 10 days- 8 will be diving. I am doing my advanced cave- I am also fun diving.

I just don't see how I can get away with just one bag!!! I am flying delta. With my reel, my spools, my xDeep my fins my regs, my pouches, my wetsuit. that's definitely over 50bls and one bag.

And I still need something to wear when I'm out of the water as nudity isn't my thing since I put on the COVID 19 (and then some).

Am I just a n00b when it comes to packing or is this about right for a cave diver?

I fly Southwest, 2 free bags, 50lb each. When I went from OW to cave diving, I married my wife so I could use her free luggage allowance as well.

Good idea but I don't think we can all marry your wife.

If you know where you are going to be, like a shop or hotel, UPS is your friend. Ship a box ahead of you, and back to your house. Usually less than bag fees or ticket costs.

Default How many bags do you take?

I always take 2 hard suitcases and a backpack. Split the dive gear evenly as to weight use my clothes in between. Put lights and computers in my backpack.

You get 2 carry-on bags. Put the regs and heavy stuff in them. You will need your batteries in them to. As far as clothes go pack light you can always wash almost anywhere. In Mexico the lavanderias will wash and fold for a nominal charge.

I would have said get the Delta Amex card for one free bag but the annual fee is now more than $200 so you now need to travel a lot on Delta to make that work.

I can get ALL of my cave diving gear, including stage regs/rigging, reels, spools, etc in a carry on minus my wetsuit. . If I take my rebreather, it will fit in my backpack plus my carry on. You are in the Caribbean. You don't need a lot of clothes.

I get all my stuff in one large duffle bag and it's less than 50 lbs. The regs lights go in the carry-on. I have a 2nd carry-on laptop bag. If I'm going somewhere warm I wouldn't know how to fill another bag.
I pack the suit, rig, fins, mask reels etc and clothes, that's it... what do you guys take to even fill one 50 lbs bag?

    Also, what's advanced cave?

In mexico now... 2 checked bags (one is a keg of sorb), 1 carry on and 1 "personal item (this is my backpack). I can get my CCR, lights, hardware, batteries, computer, regs, setup tarp (its heavy at 4lbs), camera/lights, valves and CCR bottles in the 2 carry ons. Primary checked bag has bcd (katana 2), fins, reels, drysuit/garments and all clothing for right at 50lbs.

I find my travel companions struggle to do 1 primary bag but they also bring #### they dont "need". For example... I print out 1 ccr checklist, I dont bring an entire binder of completed checklists, manuals and other stuff I'd never look at on the trip.

BTW... where is everyone?? Forget the pandemic for a minute.... travel is cheap, airports/planes 1/2 empty and the diving is good! Book a trip! We've got the entire pro-tec dive shop and lodging to ourselves!
