I've watched a lot of open water divers be like "oooooo what is this line going into the cave... maybe I should follow it" and I haven't even been cave diving nearlly as much or as long as most everyone else on CDF.... yeah, a line all the way to OW would be a bad thing at Ginnie.

LOL. In the same spirit of being ignored, I'll say something I repeat every few years but which is also ignored:
The term OW divers as used by cave divers means something only to cave divers. To non-cave divers it just means the first certification level, so if I am AOW or higher I can just ignore a sign that says "OW divers stay out." It does not apply to me. The sign must say "Non-cave certified divers stay out."

you do make a point... got in an argument with a PADI OWSI that was adamant that there was no such thing as Advanced Nitrox... WHY??? because PADI didn't teach it... I'm not harping on PADI... I'm an OWSI... but I have a clue.... well most of the time anyway.

One of my favorite Harry Averill stories was when he physically dragged two OW divers out of Peacock and at the surface pointed at the sign and yelled, "Don't you see that sign? No open water divers!"

One guy got all bowed up and stated, "We're ADVANCED open water divers."

That doesn't say much for their instructor. He should have told them to take classes if they wanted to dive in caves.

And who is going to tell the cave divers to stop referring to the rest of the world as open water divers? I guess that is OK if they don't want to communicate and would prefer to be part of a secret priesthood....

few months ago at JB some open water divers made it down to bottom of chimney. they did a fantastic job of silting up the cavern area, and were standing on the bottom at 98' walking and pulling the line.

after a few divers were attempting to get them to turn around, and back on the surface a fight almost occurred... the one diver said "I am a commercial diver and know how to dive"
