    Default Lookout for Stolen Gear

Just in case anyone hears of someone looking to sell some used and not so used gear...

In Deerfield Beach FL, while on a recreational diving trip, I kept a "spare" drysuit and harness, with attached light, in my rental vehicle.

I've narrowed to sometime between last Fri.-Mon. (2/28-3/2) the following were taken:

    Light - Dive Rite EX35
(won it in the raffle at Midwest NSS-CDS, thank you again Jared and Lamar)

Drysuit - Gates trilam with Si-Tech Vega valve and E/O cord for suit heater
    (unused until 2 years ago)

Harness - Katana (original, just some extra hardware)

There may have been some regs taken as well, but I couldn't do a full inventory and still make my flight home.

No name on anything, police report filed, contacting dive shops, and posting on Scubaboard.

Do you own a home? This is covered by HO insurance.

Only if you thought to list it all beforehand.

My home owners insurance has a rider (only a few $$) for "sports equipment". I only need photographs of the equipment to register a loss claim.

SCUBA isn't sports equipment. Don't let your insurance company try to pull that. Golf is, tennis is, racquet ball, fishing. There's no score in SCUBA, and there's no "winning" or competing.

Guys, on your HO Policy (at least in Florida, but also in most other states), if it is not specifically EXCLUDED in your policy, it must be included. SCUBA Equipment is covered by your Contents Coverage usually 50% of your Coverage A. If there is an exclusion or cap for "Sports Equipment" (and their usually is) they have to define what a sport is in the exclusions. Lots of insurance companies pay these claims for scuba without batting an eye. Every once in a while a company tries some mickey mouse crap. Let me know if they do, and I'll help.

Legally, you don't even need photos, you only need a police report and receipts/invoice.
